Entrepreneur Investor Relationship: Expert Panel And Reception

No startup can succeed without solid funding. Our expert panel will discuss funding strategies and share what successful investors look for in startups. Learn how entrepreneurs should choose investors and manage the critical relationships with investors that last for years. Come meet other investors, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts over wine and bites at this unique event, sponsored by the Stanford Club of San Francisco.

Panelists:

Larry Kubal: Larry founded Labrador Ventures where he has served as Managing Partner for the last 30 years. Labrador was a founding investor in Pandora Media where Larry served on the board for 7 years. Larry was General Partner in 7 VC funds, invested in more than 100 IT startups and has been named as one of the top 100 VCs in the world. Previously, Larry was a founder of Avalanche Technologies, which was acquired by Microsoft. Larry holds a B.S. from Duke University and an MBA from the Stanford GSB.

Ron Weissman: Ron chairs the Software Industry Group for the Band of Angels, where he’s been a member for thirteen years. He is a seventeen year venture capital veteran and has served on 30+ Board and has mentored or invested in more than fifty companies. Ron is also on the Board of the Angel Capital Association. His interests include AI, Health IT and other vertical market solutions, and has written and lectured widely on angel capital-related topics.

Danny Shader: Danny is the founder of Handle Financial and CEO of PayNearMe, a mobile payment platform. In previous roles, he led Good Technology, a wireless software company that was acquired by Motorola; and co-founded Accept.com, one of the first person-to-person payments providers, which was acquired by Amazon. Danny holds a B.S. from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the Stanford GSB.

Marisa Sharkey: Marisa is the founder and COO of Birdies, Inc, a high-end foot wear company that "blends style and comfort". She and her co-founder recently completed their Series A round of funding, led by Norwest Venture Partners. Prior to that, she worked at Bain & Co and the Ross Stores, where she was Group VP of Corporate Strategy. Marisa holds a B.S. in Business Management from Cornell University and an MBA from The Wharton School.

Guy Goldstein: Guy is the CEO of Next Insurance, an online insurance company serving small businesses. Before that, Guy was the founder/CEO of Check, a mobile payment company that was sold to Intuit for $360 mil. His previous roles included VP of Mint Payments, Sr Director of Corporate Development at HP. Guy holds B.A.'s in Software Engineering and Business from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from the Stanford GSB.

Jill Nguyen (Moderator): Jill is an angel investor with the Band of Angels. Previously, she was the Managing Director of BP Marine International, leading a global business with operations in over 60 countries and revenues over $1 bil. In other prior roles, she led the development of new ventures for BP in a number of international markets (Asia, Latin America, Middle East). Jill holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the Stanford GSB.
